These are busy days for those involved
with the Ohio Leadership Institute! I am excited about being
able to be much more involved with the Washington, DC trip this
year for the first time since 2004. Realizing that this fall
will mark the beginning of our tenth class is very rewarding.
When we first started, no one knew whether this effort to engage
Republican women in leadership training would be successful.
Now our statistics of 154 Institute grads representing 46 counties
speak for themselves.
With the help and encouragement of so many of you, we are working
to expand our website, promoting social networking for our members,
actively recruiting members for the new class (and we are working
on those counties where we have not yet had a participant) and planning
our annual educational program in November when we will also have
the opportunity to celebrate our tenth class.
I am so proud of all of you!
Next week we are off to Washington
DC with the ninth Institute class. It will be, as all prior class
trips have been, a whirlwind of activity and, we hope, education.
We have worked hard these past years, with 154 wonderful women passing
through our program and into the world of politics and possibility.
We hope we have opened a few doors and, at the same time, opened
eyes to the talents and opportunities we all have.
fall we will mark the very special TENTH year in operation, honoring
the Institute with a membership dinner that we hope you will all
attend. We hope to make it a grand celebration of the Institute--and,
most importantly, YOU. Watch for a separate announcement of the
dinner which is tentatively scheduled for November 12. You won't
want to miss it!
The Davidson Institute Board met in March and discussed ways to
promote and encourage Ohio Republican women to apply for membership,
and the tuition fee. The good news is the tuition fee will
remain at $300 for the coming year and be re-evaluated in one-year.
Additional good news is an expanded mailing to Republican leaders
throughout the state will be sent soon announcing the June 30th
deadline for all 2009 applications.
In our 10th Anniversary Year, The Davidson Institute encourages
women from each county aspiring to leadership positions in the public
sector or political organization to apply for this specialized training.
